Helen’s Acres Community Farm is a 24‑acre farm located in the heart of Kelowna, BC. Operated by the Trinity Legacy Foundation, the farm plays a vital role in improving food security across the Central Okanagan. In partnership with local social agencies, we supply fresh, nutritious food to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Our work is rooted in community, stewardship, and the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy food.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to join our agricultural team. This role involves supporting daily farm operations, maintaining equipment, and assisting with crop management. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a passion for community-impact farming, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainable farming practices and farm maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting crops using appropriate tools and machinery
• Operate heavy farm equipment safely and efficiently, including tractors and other machinery based on equipment experience
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, machinery, and irrigation systems
• Use hand tools and power tools for various tasks such as fencing, building structures, or repairing equipment
• Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields
• Conduct general farm maintenance including heavy lifting of supplies or materials
• Monitor crop health and report any issues related to pests or disease
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times

Qualifications

• Prior experience or knowledge of horticulture, agriculture, or related fields is preferred and an asset.
• Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery and maintenance is highly desirable
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and power tools safely and effectively
• Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic farm infrastructure is a plus
• Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work with all age groups as we work with volunteers
• Must have or be willing to apply vulnerable sector check

Pay

$19.00 -$22.00 per hour
